An upseting loss in the NHL
The leafs were facing one of the most important games of the 1999 stanley cup finals yesterday. They were one loss away from elimination, as the Semi-final eastren confrence record was 3-1 in favor of the Buffalo Sabers. The leafs captin Mats Sundin has performed excellently through out the play-offs and yesterday was the perfect time to bring out the extrordinery Sundin. The leafs were facing a though battle defensively with the Dominator in net. But some belive that the wonder from Edmonton would perform like usual. It was a very competitive game until the beggining of the third period. Buffalo scored in the last seven minutes to play. The leafs were playing desperatly in the last dying minutes, but the Dominator came up big on every shot they took. At the final end of the game, Buffalo scored the final goal in the empty net which send the leafs season to an end. Although they lost to Buffalo, you could say that they were one of the most fascinating teams in the NHL this season. The Maple leafs didn't even make the playoffs last year, but with the intelligence of Pat Quinn, they made it too the Eastren Conference matchup in 1999. The leafs deserve a lot of respect for their hard work, and Pat Quinn will definetly win coach of the year, you have my word. It is very likely that Toronto will have even bigger success next season, and if it goes that way, the cup might find its place in Canada after all.

Pacers even out the almighty Knicks
Larry Bird's team came out tonight in Indian in hope of taking game two. With the amazing 3-point Reggie Miller, Indiana had a good chance of beating the Knicks. The competition wasn't all one sided though. With the likes of Sprewell and Camby Indiana was going to have to play tough. Since the Knicks drew first blood, there is less pressure on them, but they would still like to win the next game and take game 3 too New York. The game was a real dandy. A lot of fouls in this game caused a lot of unessecary points scored for both teams. Smits, Johnson and Dudly all fouled out. The game came down to the last free-throw. The game was tied at 86 and Miller was up to the line with 2 seconds left. With Reggis 93% shootinng ability in the play-offs, things weren't looking good for Knicks. He made them both, and since New York ran out of time outs they inbounded the ball from 60 feet and got it too Ewing in time. Ewing made the 10 footer jump shoot atempt but it didn't go. Indiana takes this one by a basket and New York will need a lot of rest to face the Pacers in Game 3 at M.S.G. By: Srle. L Date: June 1, 1999
